MUDLARKERS

Mudlarking is the activity of searching the muddy banks of a riverbed, most famously the Thames in search of lost or discarded objects. The term was coined in the late 18th century.

The identity was formed from the objects found whilst mudlarking and using them as a typographic base to build on. Combining it with Baskerville - a font designed in the 18th century creates an organic connection between the shapes and the type. Taking this one step further by creating a Lino-print from the original logotype - printing, scanning and then vectorising it. The original print had very harsh edges, but I wanted to play homage to the fact these objects can be lost for hundreds of years and water has the physical effect of smoothing these harsh edges.
